Medical Administrator

Independent Vascular Services is a specialist provider of ultrasound diagnosis of vascular disease and requires a Medical Administrator to work in its head office in South Manchester. The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a dedicated clinical team, with the added satisfaction of working for an organisation committed to the healthcare of patients with vascular disease.

This vacancy would be ideal for a proactive and enthusiastic Medical Administrator with knowledge of medical terminology and experience working in the healthcare sector.  The job involves providing high-level office support so you will need to be motivated, organised and, as you will be the first line of contact for clinical and patient queries, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The role requires ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a busy multidisciplinary office. You will be expected to be flexible, work both as part of a team and independently. Confidentiality is paramount to this role as the work involves dealing with sensitive information.

The main aspects of the role are based around the booking of appointments by telephone and by post, providing a warm welcome on reception, dealing with e-referrals system and liaising and providing support to our clinical team members. You will enter details to radiology reporting system and to our bespoke database. You will also type multidisciplinary team meeting comments on patient outcomes and to provide general office administrative duties. You will also get the opportunity to chaperone patients when training has been given.

Ideally the successful candidate will already have administrative experience within the healthcare sector, and competent in using NHS software packages such as NW CRIS and Lorenzo. Training on specific software packages will be provided where necessary. You will require a high degree of computer literacy and be competent in Microsoft Office applications in particular Excel where an intermediate level of knowledge is required.

Applicants are required to have two GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English. Previous experience in office administration role is essential. Previous experience in medical office environment is highly desirable however role specific training will be provided.

Salary will start at £16,968 (Band 3 Agenda for Change) and holiday entitlement of 27 days plus bank holidays per annum. Some weekend working is required on a rota basis, which will carry additional payment.

This position is available on a full-time basis 37.5hrs or part time 30hrs per week.
